PBX VoIP Networking

PBX VoIP Networking - Market Requirements

As organizations evolve, the ability to collaborate and communicate between offices is paramount. Many medium and large corporations have significant investments in their existing PBX equipment and have utilized special TIE line facilities to network their PBX systems together.

Networking PBXs together allows extensions to connect directly and includes additional features that improve organizational efficiency. An existing challenge is that dedicated TIE lines are quite costly to maintain and they do not leverage the significant investments in the WAN infrastructure that most organizations have already adopted.

PBX VoIP Networking - AudioCodes Solution

One solution to this challenge is Enterprise Networking; replacing the TIE lines with VoIP gateways  and Multi-Service Business Gateways that leverage the existing WAN to provide “virtual” TIE circuits. In this application, media gateways are installed with the T1/E1 side facing the existing PBXs and the IP side facing the corporate WAN. Media Gateways are then configured to emulate the previously installed TIE circuits, thereby hiding any changes to the existing PBX equipment. Based on the number of sites and the complexity of the solution, an optional third-party Proxy Server may also be installed to direct traffic and manage network loading.
